Dream Academy takes Boston & NYC -Abner F. Galope

Hello friends, family, and businesses,

My name is Abner Fernandez Galope. I am a sophomore at Rancho San Juan High School in Salinas, CA. I am a straight-A student athlete involved in basketball, mountain biking, and track and field. I love being involved not just through my school but also in the real world. Recently, I applied for a year-long youth leadership program called The Dream Academy and was accepted. The Dream Academy is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to inspire, engage, and empower students to strive for higher education while becoming active participants and leaders in their communities. As part of this program, us students will have the opportunity to go on an educational trip to Boston & New York City, partake in community service activities, and tour different colleges. Upon acceptance, I was excited not only to travel but to meet new people, make connections, set myself up to go to college, and put myself out there. My goal is to learn new things and get something out of them.

This academy will help me pursue my dreams of traveling and possibly attending a 4-year college. At the end of the program, we will partake in a 9-day, 8-night trip to Boston and New York City. The goal is to fundraise $4,000. These funds will be used to pay for costs for bus transportation, roundtrip airfare, hotel accommodations, entrance fees, and meals. Sights included on this trip are: Faneuil Hall, Quincy Market, Freedom Trail, TD Gardens,

MIT, Harvard University, Fenway Park, Yale University, the Statue of Liberty, Times Square, Columbia University, Empire State Building, a Broadway show, and the 9/11 Memorial and Museum. We will be doing several group fundraisers to help raise the cost for this trip, however, anything helps to meet the amount due to make this trip a reality. I am fundraising, having yard sales, working on the weekends, doing recycles, and other stuff I can think of to go on the trip. So I am trying as hard as I can to make this happen.
