Abortion Survivor Housing
Approximately 8 months after the joyous occasion of our marriage (pictured above) on September 22, 2011, we (abortion survivor and pro-life speaker/author Carrie Fischer and my husband Richard, began experiencing numerous tragic events in our lives, including but not limited to the miscarriage of two children (during one of which I almost bled to death), losing a house in Tennessee to forclosure, two death threats, living and job situations falling apart, as well as the death of both my step father David (pictured above), and my brother Steve about 18 months after David. To explain all of that would take way too much time away from our current situation, so we will just pick up with our second move to Houston to help with family, which took place two years ago the end of August.
Upon arriving in Houston from Tennessee, and checking out what was supposed to be a free apartment offered to us by a friend of Carrie's family, we found that apartment riddled with mold and unihabitable. We spent about a month in a hotel before being able to find an apartment suited to our needs which we could afford. After moving into that apartment, Richard's employer had a client back out of a contract just a day before we were to start their rather large remodeling job, and after just another two days work, Richard was once again needing to find other employment. We then went through hurricane Harvey, and though our apartment wasn't damaged from the hurricane, Richard was out of work for about 20 weeks, and we were almost evicted. By the grace of God, we were able to keep the eviction from happening, but then Richard suffered a near death injury at work, and was out of work for nearly 4 more weeks. Once he returned to work, his employer only had part time work available for him, and his employer eventually decided to close up his company and take a job with someone else, leaving Richard without work yet again. After securing another job, Richard felt the Lord was saying that He wanted us to leave his roughly 41 year construction career to, "Fish for men", but Richard told the Lord he wasn't going to just leave his job after all we'd been through financially, and if He really was the one speaking this to Richard, that God would have to close this job down, and that until that time, he was going to do his best to hold onto this new job. Well, as God would have it, the start of the job was delayed for nearly a week, and then during his first week of employment, the company only had 2 half days work for him, as according to them, they had 3 clients cancel contracts before they started the jobs, and by the next Sunday evening, his employer contacted him and said that his services would no longer be needed.
During that same time frame, we discovered mold in our apartment's A/C cold air return, which had spread into the actual A/C unit and duct system, and I was experienceing really bad headaches, nausea, vomiting, which are all symptoms of mold poisoning! We ended up breaking our lease for medical reasons, but before we moved formally moved out, I came down with a case of shingles and cellulites, and was hospitalized for 4 days. After being released from the hospital, we moved into a hotel, and have been living there by the grace of God and the generosity of others for over a month now.
Also, my mom's health has been deteriorating for a number of years. She's been dealing with spinal stenosis, diabetes, as well as frequently recuring urinary tract infections, and most recently, stage 3 kindney failure. We have been unable to move in with my mom due to my allergy to her many animals, but that said, we want to find some kind of housing that has at least two bedrooms, so that she can come and visit from time to time, or if her health really gets bad, perhaps move in with us and give her animals to others to take care of. Mom lives on a fixed income, which drastically reduced after my step father died, and she's already supporting her grandson, who is currently her live in care taker, so she can only do so much to help us at this point, and my family is not able to help anymore at this time either.
In addition to the above, given all of our many struggles with housing and finances, as well our evangelistic and pro-life callings, not only do we want to do all we can to help my mother, but the Lord has given us many visions and dreams for reaching out to our lost and dying world. One of them, the Lord gave to each of us separtely over the course of about a week, and He named it, "Harbor Inn House of Hope". Harbor Inn will be a place of safety which people in crisis pregancy and other difficult situations can come to and find both tangible physical help, as well as emotional and spiritual support. One of our other long term visions is that we also hope to adopt at least one special needs child and some point in the future.
Though in order to accomplish our long term goals, we would need much more than just the $3000.00 we have set as our intial funding amount on this page, but first things first as they say, we need to deal with our own family and get settled somewhere before we can do much of anything to help others.
All the above said, please know that we are both exploring other career paths during this time, including an essential oils business that was given to us a little over a year ago, but will take time to build a client base that will be able to support us (see link below). Richard has also recently applied to be a grocery delivery driver for an internet based company we just recently learned about through a friend, and we are open to other options as well if any of you reading this have anything you believe could work for us. Given that I don't drive, and I don't see very well in bright sunlight, and I've also been partially deaf my entire life, we would both prefer if we could work together, and both the above mentioned opportunities fit that description.
Please know that you don't have to be able to donate large sums of money to help. Even if all of our friends gave only $5.00 each, we'd be well past our $3,000.00 goal. If you can't give financially at this time, we certainly understand and don't want to ask you to short yourself or your family, but know that there are still two ways you can help, and that is to keep us in your prayers, and to also, share this page, as well as our future updates with your friends.
Thanks and Blessings in our Wonderfully Beautiful and Powerful Messiah Yeshua (Jesus)
