Above All Odds Rent Support Drive
Donation protected
Above All Odds founder, LaTonya Myers is raising funds to help Philly 10 families catch up on their rent and stay in their homes. As a community advocate and resource person working closely with families impacted by systemic injustice every day Ms. Myers is confronted with the depth of need in her community.
As has been extensively documented in news reports, the Covid-19 pandemic has disproportionately impacted communities of color and communities experiencing a high rate of poverty; we have seen higher death rates among African-Americans when compared to white people who contract the disease. Additionally, the income and wealth gaps created by systemic racism mean that many African American community members are less likely to be able to withstand long periods of unemployment due to the pandemic without also experiencing food or housing insecurity.
LaTonya founded Above All Odds as a platform for advocacy and community support in Philadelphia. She sees the clear need for community support in the form of rent assistance and she hopes that this holiday season Philadelphians who have funds to spare will open their hearts to help their neighbors stay in their homes.
All funds donated to this Go fund me will go directly to pay rent or back rent for families LaTonya Myers has connected to directly through her extensive advocacy work.
