Bill Davis -medical and funeral expenses
Donation protected
Bill Davis is nothing short of a local legend.
A diamond in the rough from New York City, who I met when he was a bartender in Mount Joy’s Bubes Brewery.
Behind his excellent service skills was a father of an autistic son who gave his everything to help his son reach his potential, an endeavor in which he succeeded.
Bill and his wife, Kate, took turns alternatively working whatever jobs they could and caring for their adult autistic son.
They were humble and hard-working, not looking for accolades or praise. They were just trying to get by.
Even so, Bill wrote 3 books on autism and was always trying to push the envelope to explore what autistic people are capable of and what could be available to them.
His own son went from being self injurious and non verbal to taking specialized college class.
Sadly, after all of his toil and struggle, Bill developed a lethal brain tumor and passed away on March 25, 2024.
While Bill was in the hospital, Kate took off work to care for both Bill and their son, Chris.
They were barely making it through as it was, and now the mounting bills and funeral costs are just too much.
Kate says: “It seems silly, I just need to not worry about getting back to work for a bit. Focus on Chris.
He deserves some special treatment and joy. We didn't even get to celebrate his 30th birthday in September because Bill had just had his surgery.
Then we found out the stage 4 diagnosis a week later- On our wedding anniversary.
Its all just overwhelming.
Chris has sacrificed so much in the last 7 months and now he's lost his best friend. He doesn't fully understand that Bill is gone yet. Keeps asking for him. It's heartbreaking each time. I need to give him time to procss this. Both of us an opportunity to grieve.”
Would you please consider helping to alleviate the financial burden for Kate as she figures out how to care for Chris and navigate this difficult time?
ANYTHING and everything IS greatly appreciated <3
God bless you ALL!
