ABQ Father and Daughter Critically Injured
Donation protected
On Monday morning, March 27th, David Pizarro (43) was heading to drop off his daughter, Penny (10), at school on his way to work. While on the familiar stretch of road, David and Penny, were t-boned by a stolen SUV after the driver ran through a stop sign.
Both father and daughter were transported to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with life-threatening injuries. David is being treated for brain bleeding, and although conscious, is still suffering from the effects of a traumatic brain injury. He is confused and unable to process what has happened.
Penny, however, is still in the ICU fighting for her life. Penny has undergone a craniectomy to reduce the pressure caused by her brain injury. She also sustained a fractured femur and pelvis along with damage to her liver and chest. Due to a collapsed lung, Penny has been intubated and is still unable to breathe on her own.
David is a Navy Veteran and single father who is the sole provider for both his daughter and elderly mother. Penny is a 4th grader and a dedicated member of her Girl Scout Troop. The road ahead for this family is long and their family’s future is still uncertain. There has been an incredible outpouring of friends and family in the community who know and love David & Penny.
The family is offering those who wish to support the Pizarro Family during this unimaginable time the opportunity to donate. David will unlikely be able to work in the coming months so donations for living expenses and medical bills would be received with much gratitude.
Let’s rally around this family with love, support, and prayers. Thank you!
