Portsmouth Greyhound Trust celebrates its 60th anniversary in 2025 - they have homed 1,000's of retired racing greyhounds during this time. This is a charity run by a dedicated family and their highly skilled expert kennel staff (plus some pretty fab volunteers too!).

As with everything, maintaining the kennels, paying unexpected vet bills and the week on week costs, such as food heating/ electricity and water bills plus coats and harnesses - not to mention the odd treat or two, always costs ££££.

One of the main projects the team would like to start work on, is a new paddock facility which will allow the greyhounds some "off lead" time to run around safely. In addition, the team have longed for a memorial garden to honour some of the kennel legends that have been a huge part of their lives and they would dearly love to have a dedicated area for this. And last, but by no means least... vet bills, often these can be unexpected, and the health and wellbeing of the greyhounds are PGT's priority first and foremost, and vet care, of course, is costly.

Greyhounds are one of the most gentle, beautiful, goofy, snuggly, lazy breeds you are likely to come across - they are a pure joy.
