Abukar's Road to Recovery: Medical Transport

On the evening of March 21st, while at home having dinner with his wife and children, our brother suffered a stroke. He was immediately rushed to the hospital where after a week in ICU he began to show signs of improvement. 

Unfortunately, on the morning of March 29th, Abukar suffered a catastrophic bleeding stroke which has left him in a coma. Abukar has miraculously defied every one of the doctors’ grim prognoses. With time and continued support, we are hopeful he will make a full recovery insha Allah.

 

Abukar is loved by so many people, in so many places. Folks continue to ask how they can support him. Right now, we are raising money to medically transport Abukar from Columbus, Ohio to Atlanta, Georgia where the rest of our family resides, and where he has lived, worked, and attended mosque regularly for the past 25 years. We need to transport him to a nursing facility in Atlanta where he can receive 24 hour care by skilled professionals and be visited regularly by family. Our mother has not left his bedside for two months. She refuses to sleep a night in her bed while our brother is in a hospital multiple states away.

 

Breakdown of Funds:

The cost of non emergency medical transport by air: ~30,000

Excess medical costs and support for his wife + four children as he was the sole breadwinner in the family: 10,000

Total: ~40,000

 

Abukar has dedicated his life to making sure our mother was fully supported, his younger siblings were empowered, and his children were adored.

 

Please help us support Abukar as he continues to fight for his life. He deserves every opportunity to recover, every resource at our disposal, and to be surrounded by family as he heals.
