AbunDance Academy has to MOVE!

We are AbunDance Academy of the Arts, an established non-profit, tax-exempt arts organization dedicated to offering children, adults and seniors affordable dance, theater, wellness and musical instruction at all levels.


In April 2017, we were forced to move due to unfair Rent Hikes. After six grueling months of searching for a new place for AbunDance,


WE HAVE FINALLY SECURED OUR NEW HOME!

Our official address is 90 Sullivan Place
(between Bedford Ave and McKeever Place).

Beginning December 1st, 2017, AbunDance will begin conducting ALL Classes at our New HOME while we continue the build-out process. It's been quite the journey running AbunDance out of four different locations, two storages, several borrowed living rooms and rental cars, and we are AbunDantly Grateful to have found a 2000 sq ft gem right here in the Prospect Heights Neighborhood.

We couldn't have done it without all of you! Thank you to all of our donors, supporters and families! Big shout outs to @kiddiescience and @dianaseventspace for opening their hearts and spaces to us during this time of transition! We will keep you posted for our upcoming paint parties, move-in details and free community classes.

Our Artistic Director, Ms. Karisma, opened AbunDance three years ago, with one vision in mind; to provide stellar arts and cultural programming at a low cost to students seeking enrichment within the “AbunDance” that all of the Arts provides. 

When we found our original location, it was an empty, lifeless space. It is clear that we have invested time, love and  money to bring Light, Love and AbunDance to this Prospect Park/Lefferts Garden neighborhood. In just three short years, we transformed the space and have brought smiles to the faces of so many students, clients and passerbys. Since our inception, our AbunDance community has grown tremendously from just offering Dance and Theatre classes to hosting Yoga Workshops, many professional company rehearsals, neighborhood artists' mini concerts, small spoken word events , "Mommy and Me" classes, Couples Salsa, and Independent Film screenings. We even showcased Student Art as a Gallery several times.


This is your chance to join us in creating a NEW space our neighborhood needs. At just over 2000 sq ft, our new space will be as warm, elegant, bright and AbunDantly Open as our original space. With one large studio and one medium-sized studio, both furnished with sprung hardwood floors, mirrors, soundproofing, track lighting and central air, we are looking forward to better serving more students and classes per week.


Contributions will be used towards securing the space, outfitting the new space with more mirrors, ballet barres, soundproof curtains, another sound system and a little more character. Contributions will also help us to purchase more tables and chairs to accommodate events like small children birthday parties, private film screenings and intimate performances.


By participating in this campaign, you'll be helping us to put a down payment on the new space and begin the Buildout period sooner than we would be able to do on our own. Several of our parents have donated and will be donating their time and/or expertise towards the move, relocation and renovation process. We also have been blessed to have such amazing neighboring businesses who have offered to donate us temporary spaces for our weekly classes while we are securing and preparing our new space during the move.
 


We anticipate our grand opening to be in Jan/Feb 2018 and All are Welcome! All donations are tax deductible and go directly towards our Moving/Strengthening Fund.
