"Ab urbe incognita" art exhibition

Sono AFAN alias Alessandro Fantini, artista multimediale che si avvale della pittura, dei video, della musica, della fotografia e della scrittura per esprimere la propria visione medianica della realtà.
Pertanto mi definisco un' "artista multimedianico".

I'm AFAN alias Alessandro Fantini, an Italian multimedia artist  using  video, music, painting, photo, drawing, writing to convey his own medianic vision of reality.
Therefore I define myself a "multimedianic artist".

Tra il 2009 e il 2014 ho diretto tre film indipendenti in tre diverse città del mondo, "Nepente" girato a Roma, "EDOnism" a Tokyo e "New York, a venture" a New York, i quali avrebbero in seguito formato quella che ho chiamato la trilogia de "Le Città della Mente Nascosta".

Between 2009 and 2014 I've directed three indipendent movies in three different cities, "Nepente" filmed in Rome, "EDOnism" in Tokyo and "New York, a venture" in New York, that would have later formed what I've called "The Hidden Mind Cities trilogy".


Una volta rientrato in Italia ho pensato di presentare la trilogia e il processo creativo direttamente e indirettamente legato alla sua realizzazione in una forma del tutto speciale.
Dopo alcune ricerche effettuate a Roma ho trovato nella Galleria "Segni Mutanti ", situata a pochi passi dal Museo Macro Testaccio, gli ambienti ideali sia per proiettare i film che per esporre le opere pittoriche, grafiche e audiovisive che ne hanno accompagnato la produzione.

Once back in Italy I decided to showcase in a very special way  the trilogy and the creative process directly and indirectly linked to its making.
After some research in Rome I found out that the art gallery "Segni Mutanti - Mutant Signs " located near the Macro Testaccio Museum, has the perfect features for both screening the movies and exhibiting the artworks related to them and their themes.


Dispiegandosi all’interno di uno spazio configurato come un tunnel del vento, la mostra si propone di guidare il visitatore lungo il percorso concettuale alla base della ricognizione estetica compiuta tra Roma, Tokyo e New York, intorno al tema della simbiosi emotiva tra il singolo e la metropoli. Mediante l’ausilio delle colonne sonore e degli effetti sonori creati per la trilogia, l’itinerario poetico tracciato da dipinti, video e disegni  viene ad assumere una qualità narrativa ed atmosferica continuamente mutevole, a rimarcare la natura metamorfica di una prassi creativa che trova il suo compimento nel dialogo simultaneo tra i diversi linguaggi artistici.

Within a space configured as a wind tunnel, the exhibition aims to  drive the visitor along the creative rout I followed from Rome toTokyo and New York, dealing with the concept of the emotional symbiosis between the individual and the metropolis. With the help of the soundtracks and sound effects I've personally created, the poetic journey traced by paintings, videos and drawings will provide an atmospheric, ever-changing framework able to emphasize how the process  finds its fulfillment in the dialogue between different artistic languages.

Luogo: Galleria SMAC – Segni Mutanti Arte Contemporanea, Via Velletri, 30, 00198 Roma.
Durata indicativa: Una settimana nel mese di Dicembre 2015 o Gennaio 2016.
Opere: Esposizione di 25 opere su tela e selezione di storyboard e concept art dei film.
Installazione multimediale: proiezione giornaliera dei film Nepente EDOnism New York, a venture . Audio diffusione delle colonne sonore mixate in un unico flusso sonoro durante l'intera durata della mostra.

The following are the details of the planned exhibition called "Ab urbe incognita - The Hidden Mind Cities":

Location: SMAC Art Gallery "Segni Mutanti" , Via Velletri, 30, 00198 Rome
Estimated time: One week in December 2015 or January 2016 (it depends on when the budget will be reached).
Contents: 25 oil paintings on canvas and a selection of storyboards and concept art of the movies.
Daily screenings of the movies  Nepente   EDOnism
New York, a venture
During the exhibition the soundtracks mixed into a continuous audiostream will play through speakers.

Dal momento che la macchina organizzativa e il trasporto delle opere ha i suoi inevitabili costi, il vostro sostegno e la vostra "sponsorizzazione" saranno determinanti nel far sì che questo peculiare progetto non resti tale. Questo non intende essere infatti solo una classica personale o un evento multimediale, ma il tentativo di evocare nel modo più fedele possibile le città invisibili fondate dalle nostre menti e popolate dalle nostre paure, sogni e desideri più ineffabili. Sarà inoltre l'opportunità per sperimentare per la prima volta nella sua interezza "sensoriale" il "regno multimedianico" di AFAN.

Tutti coloro che doneranno da €1 a €500 (e oltre)  verranno menzionati come promotori nel catalogo ufficiale della mostra e in tutti i video che verranno realizzati durante e dopo il suo svolgimento.
Per coloro che doneranno €5, €20, €100 o €500 (e oltre) sono previsti vari "rewards" elencati in fondo alla pagina.

Since the exhibition management and artworks transport have their unavoidable costs your support and sponsorship will be crucial in making this unique project come true. This isn't intended to be only a solo show or a multimedia extravaganza but an attempt at rendering a faithful display of the invisible cities founded by our brains and inhabited by our most unspeakable desires, fears and dreams. It will be also the opportunity to experience in its sensorial entirety the "multimedianic realm" of AFAN as never before.

All funders will be credited in the exhibition artbook catalogue and media content related to the event.
The funders donating €5, €20, € 100, €500 will receive one of the rewards listed at the bottom of the page.
