Abused kitten - Help End Animal Cruelty

On Saturday, 1/4/2020, I was walking to my front door and the face of a small kitten looked up at me. It made me smile…until she ran and I witnessed something so grotesque that I can barely find the words to describe it. A giant bloody and oozing wound was where her tail once was. This was not something I could unsee. What happened to her?


A forensic veterinarian specializing in animal cruelty confirmed this was intentional. Someone had taken a machete to her tail. I took her to the hospital where she was sedated so the abscess filled with pus could be cut and drained. A tiny piece of bone still sticking out of the area had to be snipped off. For a 3 lb kitten she had a massive infection racking her tiny body. The vet gave her barely better than 50/50 odds of survival. That was five days ago. 


I have been nursing her back the best that I can given she is paralyzed with fear. At the same time I’m trying to build trust for humans so she doesn’t always see the faces of the ones who mutilated her.


Today I learned that she has yet another challenge that will require more visits to the vet, more procedures, more medication, more patience, more determination, and of course, more costs. 


I need help. She needs help. 


Please help me give this innocent baby kitten the weeks (or months) of care she needs, I’m confident with your help and her amazing personality we can bring her up to a full recovery so she can have a forever home and bring joy to someone’s life.
