Assalamu Alaikum all,
This is Hafsa, Ikran, Istahil, Sahra and Umalkhair of The Abwaan Chronicles Podcast.
We’re back again to raise funds for education! We started this campaign 2 years ago in hopes of giving back to those back in Somalia. This is a project that we are committed to ourselves first and foremost. We started small and raised funds for 4 children . Our hope is that we will be able to raise money for their tuition + additional fees for another year and hopefully continue until they finish high school. The money we raise would cover tuition, books, uniforms, transportation and living expenses.
As we mentioned in our last update/fundraiser we were told of three children (in addition to Muno) who are unable to attend school and are living in extremely poor conditions. Their names are Anisa (14 years old), Cawaale (13 years old) and Sowdo (10 years old). We understood that paying for their tuition in this case would not be enough. What's the point of going to school if you can't concentrate because you’re hungry? We decided to divide the funds so that they could attend school as well as be able to afford food.
Considering the current COVID-19 pandemic, they are currently not attending school and funds raised for their school fees will be given out once it resumes. However, we understand that they still have living expenses, and the hardship has not gone away. We still need to support them during this time. Funds raised will go towards their living and schooling as needed.
