A/C Unit Repair for Pan-African

Donation protected
First let us  thank everyone for their words of encouragement and support.

The Pan-African Connection Bookstore,  Art Gallery and Resource Center, now celebrating 29 years serving the Dallas community was recently targeted by a costly act of vandalism.

Owner Bandele Tyehimba's (who made his transition six years ago), created this institution to create a space where the community could study and learn about their history and culture.

Why we are asking for your help:

Our 8,000 sq. ft., building is cooled by four 5 ton 3 phrase compressor units, located on the roof of our space in the Glendale Shopping Center.  About 2 months ago, we realized one of  the units had been damaged.   No copper was removed, which eliminates the motive of theft.  We had AC repairmen inspect the unit and was given an estimate of $8,000  (new unit, plus labor) to replace .  We decided wait to repair it, because the remaining units were sufficiently cooling our building.  Last Saturday (June 16th) we walked into a building, to prepare for a big storytelling program and there was no AC.  We climbed on the roof and to our disbelief another AC  unit was visibly vandalized and the others were also not working.   Again no copper or coils removed, just damaged.  How rare is it that all four units would stop working  at the same time?

Most businesses expect some AC repair expenses, over a period of 3 years, but unfortunately we are not financially able to cover these  costs at this time.  We believe we can repair one of the units, but the remaining three will require assistance from you, our beloved supporters and friends.

We are preparing to pay a good portion of costs for the units, however we need to raise $13,000 for three units (pre-owned units if available) and repairs for parts and labor on fourth unit.

Again, we are indebted to you for your consistent labor, love and support.

Forward,
