Hi, friends.
I'm asking for help to cover some of the expenses for double incision top surgery. The surgery is scheduled with Dr. Jonathan Keith in Livingston, NJ for September 2nd with an estimated cost of $15,000. There is an additional fee of $7,000.00 for the pleasure of using the hospital's services. I have been saving since I made the decision to get this surgery over a year ago, but my insurance will only cover $910. I don't have to travel too far for the operation, which I'm grateful for, so there won't be very many expenses in the way of travel and lodging. I live alone with my dog and most of my support system is in upstate NY, so I won't really be able to do much in the way of cooking or cleaning for a week or two afterwards, so there will be lots of take out happening.
The past year and half has been full of challenges including a painful and expensive divorce, relocation to my home state of New Jersey, and surgery and cancer treatment for my dog, Burrito, all while navigating living in the world of Covid-19. It has also been incredible in a lot of ways, most significantly, providing me the time, courage, and reflection to live an authentic life and accept who I am.
I am very fortunate to still have a full-time job that I love and excellent friends, but if you are able to provide any kind of assistance it would be greatly appreciated. If not, please just send good vibes to me and Bu during this exciting time. We are extremely grateful.
