This is an original song recorded and released by Accenture Phonics to raise awareness of, and funds for, Temple Street Children's University Hospital in Dublin, Ireland, to help support sick children in Ireland and their families.
The Choir
Accenture Phonics is the Soprano Alto Tenor Bass workplace choir in Ireland of Accenture, established in 2013 by Catrin Prys-Cummins. Ranging from complete beginners through to more experienced singers, the choir caters for all abilities, with the main emphasis on having fun and building a sense of community based on a mutual love of music. The choir has consistently undertaken charitable work around Dublin, Ireland and this year we wanted to make an even more tangible difference. The choir has released an original Charity Christmas Single called This Year's Christmas (Carol Nia) with the goal of raising funds to support Temple Street Children's University Hospital. The names of all choir members who took part in the magic of creating this single are set out at the foot of this story.
The Hospital
This wonderful hospital and its staff of over 1000 healthcare professionals is an acute paediatric hospital which cares for approximately 148,000 children per year from across the country of Ireland. When the choir was discussing charities it became clear that every member of the choir had been touched in some way by this hospital. Some choir members have children, grandchildren, nieces or nephews who were cared for here. Some choir members were themselves patients at the hospital during their own childhood. Each year, when the choir has the opportunity to sing at the hospital for a few hours at Christmas time, to bring a little joy into what is often a bleak and difficult time for these sick children and their families, it has a profound effect on the choir members - we always want to do more to help. So...... here we are in 2019, delighted to be able to release this charity single to increase awareness of, and hopefully raise some more funds to support, this very worthy cause that has touched the lives of so many in Ireland, and in turn had an impact on their friends and family across the world.
The Single
The carol was written by choir founder and conductor Catrin Prys-Cummins in 1995, then aged 17, when she was a school student in her native country of Wales. Catrin dedicated the song to her sister, Nia, on account of their creative, fun- filled childhood in Wales.
On the evening of 23rd October 2019, the members of Accenture Phonics headed in to Windmill Lane Recording Studios in Dublin to record the carol.
Please Support Us
We really hope you like the Christmas single, but even if it's not to your taste, it would be fantastic if you would support this worthy cause by making a donation. From small to large donations, we would welcome anything, as all money raised will go towards supporting this hospital in its efforts to care for sick children. Thank you so much from Accenture Phonics.
