Video about Follow Me, Friend:
Hi, My name is Cheryl and I'm fundraising for the Access for ALL audiobook creation project for Follow Me, Friend: A Memoir of Undiagnosed PTSD; and the Healing Power of the Horse-Human Relationship.
I wrote Follow Me Friend to help people. Trauma survivors, those suffering from PTSD, and the people who love them -- all have been helped by reading this book. Additionally, there is hope found in the beautiful and powerful relationship between the author and her horse which illustrates the healing power of such a connection.
I want to make Follow Me, Friend accessible to EVERYONE. Increasingly, I meet people who want to read Follow Me, Friend, but need an audiobook version. There are a variety of reasons for this from visual impairment, to difficulty focusing on written text, to dyslexia, to lack of time to sit and read, etc.
The funds raised will go directly to the production and publication of an auidobook version of Follow Me, Friend. I am in contact with SkyDance Mountain, a full service audiobook production company that has a special consideration for working with authors of books about hope and healing, and the special connection between horses and humans.
I plan to narrate my own book, in part because it is such an intensely personal story, and in part because it will keep costs low. SkyDance Mountain is working with me to keep costs as low as possible to make this project happen.
Any funds raised beyond the initial $2500, will go directly to producing an audiobook of the second title in the Hope, Horses, and Healing collection: I've Never Been to Me. A sequel to Follow Me, Friend, the second book continues the journey of healing, personal growth, and learning to love yourself exactly as you are.
About Follow Me, Friend -- from the back cover:
If you were insane, would you know it? Could you hide it? How long could you keep that terrible secret? What would happen when everyone discovered the truth?
Follow Me, Friend is the true story of a young woman dealing with the daily struggles of living with undiagnosed post-traumatic stress disorder—and the healing she receives through the power of the horse-human relationship. Told through her experiences of suffering the effects of childhood sexual abuse while having no conscious memory of the abuse, Cheryl walks the reader through a life in which she believes she is crazy, and she has the voices in her mind to prove it. Spiraling deeper into depression and plagued by a destructive inner voice that takes on a personality all its own, Cheryl sees only one way out, permanently.
That is until a small, thin, scraggly horse comes into her life and changes everything.
