Access the Dales

Access the Dales is a charity dedicated to making the natural beauty of the Yorkshire Dales accessible for everyone regardless of their personal circumstances or difficulties. It was set up by keen explorer Debbie North who shared this dream and a deep, abiding love for the Dales with her late husband Andy. Andy tragically passed away in 2021 and it is in his memory that she brings this dream in to reality. Debbie, who has herself rambled with the help of a wheelchair for the last few years, is very well suited to this task – working hard she has already raised thousands of pounds in necessary equipment and partnered with Amanda Owen of Ravenseat Farm to create the first of many planned access points.
My name is Holly and I’m studying Occupational Therapy at Sheffield University. I am passionate about helping every individual person access the worlds we take for granted and I am also passionate about both Rambling and the Yorkshire countryside. So I could not be more excited to have been placed with Access the Dales. I’m asking you to provide whatever aid you can give so that Debbie can continue her work – her achievements are already impressive in such a short time, however with more they can do more. Safety and orienteering equipment is needed to keep the experience as comfortable and rewarding as it can be. As we get back to enjoying our incredible natural spaces please remember those who still struggle to share in them.
