Accessible Playset for Hannah Grace
Donation protected
We would like the help of our friends, family, and the community to purchase an accessible and safe playset for our Hannah Grace. A typical playset will not be functional for her with her special needs. She requires a playset that has safety and handicap-accessible features. These features include a ramp with enclosed sides, closed sides on the clubhouse, sensory swings and a slide with high sides. We are adding a built-in picnic table under the clubhouse where she can work with her teachers and therapists. This playset is made with polyvinyl, which will protect her from splinters. Polyvinyl is incredibly strong and resistant to the weather and sunlight and will have a lifespan that will last past Hannah turning 18 years old. It will also come with a 20-year warranty on the entire structure. These customizations come with a hefty price tag!
Hannah's Story -
Hannah Grace is six years old and was diagnosed with Down syndrome at birth. In her first year of life, Hannah was diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea, central sleep apnea, gastroparesis (paralysis of the stomach), Ponto Cerebellar Hypoplasia, Sensory Processing Disorder, Mixed Receptive-Expressive Communication, Dysphagia and Congenital Heart Defects. In her second year, she was diagnosed with severe autism requiring significant support. With her considerable medical needs, Hannah has spent over 400 days in and out of Cincinnati Children's Hospital. Due to many of these medical needs, it was decided that being in her home, where she feels comfortable, was the best option for schooling. Her education is not only impacted by these complications...but so is everyday life. Going to the zoo, park, community centers, and stores is overwhelming for her. Going to these public spaces also put her at GREAT risk of becoming very ill, which would land her in the Emergency Room. Because of this, we do our very best to make our home as accessible and fun for Hannah as much as possible. We give her a space to learn and play with her teachers and therapists. We also have a space for her to go when she needs a sensory break. We would like to make our yard just as accessible and fun for Hannah. We have been searching for a playset for Hannah that would meet all of her medical and physical needs. Unfortunately, those types of customizations for accessibility come with a big price tag.
We are asking for your support with this project for Hannah. We would like to provide Hannah with a safe space where she can be free to be a kid and have fun.
Thank you for your consideration in helping us reach our goal to purchase our Hannah a playset.
