Accord Fundraising

Mark John passed away aged 47 on 31st October 2021 following a heart attack. He had been an integral part of the Accord family for almost 30 years. At the time of his death, he was Chief Creative Officer, a Board position. He was also married to Sharon and father to Emily and Katie.

To honour Mark, we are working with London Hearts, a leading charity that aims to help and support communities with the provision of heart defibrillators, as well as teaching CPR/defibrillator skills.

A defibrillator is the only device that can help someone when they are in cardiac arrest and London Hearts set out to get more in the community to ensure no one is ever more than 100 metres away from a defibrillator. The more defibrillators that are accessible, and the more people trained in how to use them, the better the chance of survival for someone who suddenly collapses. Indeed, if a defibrillator is used with timely CPR within 3-5 minutes of a cardiac arrest, the chance of survival increases from 6% to 74%. Plus, following a cardiac arrest, the chance of survival decreases 10% per minute, making every second count.

So far, London Hearts have supplied over 24,000 defibrillators and trained over 200,000 people online, but it can’t stop there.

Help Accord raise £10,000 to purchase defibrillators and place them within local communities. Over the course of the next year, our fundraising team will undertake several challenges, including a Tough Mudder, a football tournament, the Three Peaks Challenge, South West coast path walk and a quiz night.

All donations, however small, will take us one step closer to achieving our life-saving target.
