The gauntlet has been thrown down by Alex Ventura (Ace) in the Elders Real Estate team to the retired marathon runner, Philip Keen (Phil). Phil, known to describe himself as the best looking bloke in the department has been gradually getting more agitated by the antics of Ace, the metro best friend of all of Adelaide hairdressers. Ace has started his training already in preparation for the big day, while Phil is nursing a knee injury, odds to still have Phil Keen as red hot favourite.
As a result of this challenge the 2 men have agreed to settle this once and for all with a 2km running race around the River Torrens on February 15th @ 11am, raising much needed funds for the Childhood Cancer Association, a new partnership for Elders Real Estate in South Australia.
STATS:
Ace
• Year 3 Sports Day 4x20m relay 5th out of 5 (took a fall during the race)
• Year 6, 2km Cross Country Championships (1999), finished 112th of 200 approx
• Year 9 Sports Day 100m sprint 7th out of 8 (took a fall during the race).
*Career highlight was Year 10 Sports Day, coming 3rd out of 8 in the 4x100m relay.
Phil
• Completed x12 marathons
• x6 half marathons (10km & 5km)
*Career highlight was winning the Oxfam 35km SA Cross Country Trail Run aged 50.
Alex Ventura - "I’m confident leading into the race in particular due to my experience at the 2km Cross Country Championships in Year 6. That race experience will come in handy and no doubt, give me the edge"
Phil Keen - "I'm not just doing it for the kids, I'm also doing it to see if Ace's hair stays in place!"
