Ace’s Journey: A Brave 7-Year-Old Fighting for His Life

Donation protected
I’m reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for your help in supporting my 7-year-old nephew, Ace, who has been bravely battling cancer since August 2023. At just 5 years old, he was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, and his journey since then has been nothing short of heart-wrenching. Over the past year and a half, Ace has been admitted multiple times to Perth Children’s Hospital, enduring invasive treatments, chemotherapy and countless procedures. His treatments have been intense, with him being put under anesthetic on a weekly basis for lumbar punctures. In December 2024, Ace was admitted full-time to undergo even more intensive chemotherapy, cranial and full-body radiation, all in preparation for a bone marrow transplant—the procedure that could potentially save his life.

On Friday 7th February, Ace underwent the bone marrow transplant, a critical step in his fight for survival. Since then, he has faced unimaginable challenges, struggling with intense pain and is unable to eat, therefore having to rely on tube feeding to maintain his strength. Despite these overwhelming hurdles, the endless treatments and the emotional toll, Ace has shown an extraordinary amount of courage. His journey is far from over, facing new challenges each day.

Anyone who knows my sister, Sharni and my brother-in-law, Peter, knows that they are not the type to ask for help. They are the kind of people who give selflessly to others. But right now, in this incredibly difficult time, they need our support. Both Sharni and Peter are by Ace’s side at the hospital, focusing all their energy on his well-being. Sharni has given up her job to be by Ace’s side every single day, whilst Peter has had to take time off work for the foreseeable future to be there for their family, caring for their two daughters—aged just 2 and 13 with the support of loved ones.

Due to the complexity of his treatment, Ace will be in an isolation room at the hospital for the next 100 days. This time is critical as we pray his body accepts the transplant. During this period, only his parents will be allowed to visit. Ace’s two sisters love him dearly and long to cuddle him, but sadly they cannot have any physical contact with him. For the next 100 days they can only wave at each other through a glass screen. After this isolation period, he will require an additional 6 to 12 months of isolation at home to rebuild his immune system before he can return to public places, including school. His journey is far from over, he will require ongoing recovery support, physiotherapy, education adjustments, and continued lumbar punctures, bone marrow biopsies, and blood tests to monitor his progress in the years to come.

Despite these hardships, Ace’s remains the most loving, kind, sweet and innocent little boy. His resilience is incredible, and he has so much more life to live. He brings joy to everyone around him and it breaks our hearts to see him go through such an intense battle but we know that with the right support he will overcome this.

Ace’s parents and family are doing everything they can to support him and the last thing they should have to worry about is financial stress. Easing one burden for their family of five would mean the world to them. They are already facing so much heartache, worrying about finances shouldn’t be another battle they have to fight.

We know times are tough for many, but if you are able to give, no donation is too small. Any contribution whether it’s a donation or simply sharing Ace’s story would make an incredible difference and mean the world to our family. We are endlessly grateful for any support you can give.

Let's come together and show this amazing little boy that he is not fighting alone.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for supporting Ace’s journey and allowing his parents to focus on what matters most, his health, his recovery and the love of their family.
