ACESWorld needs to raise $19,892 to help 700 adolescent girls in rural Ghana stay in school!
Who We Are
Since 2001, the Association for Community Empowerment Solutions (ACESWorld) has worked to accelerate learning, earning, and agency of adolescent girls and women and to end global poverty by removing barriers to health, education, and agency through programs, partnerships, and knowledge exchange to create a world of shared prosperity. We envision an end to all forms of discrimination against all women and girls everywhere. ACESWorld believes that education is a powerful instrument for reducing poverty and improving health, gender equality, peace, and stability. Girls with little or no education are far more likely to be married as children, suffer domestic violence, live in poverty, and lack a say over household spending or their own health care than their better-educated peers, which harms them, their children, and communities. Pads4Learning gives girls the resources and knowledge to help them continue their education.
Pads4Learning
Now, we need your help to fund our initiative, Pads4Learning in Ghana. We began our Pads4Learning program to provide girls access to adequate information and supplies with which to manage menstruation in a healthy, safe, and dignified manner in order to improve school attendance and educational attainment and to break the cycle of poverty. Since our initial project, ACESWorld has conducted Pads4Learning projects in Uganda, Ghana, and Colombia. In response to the participants, we have expanded Pads4Learning to include reproductive health education so that girls can be better understand their bodies and make more informed choices.
The Goals
The goal of Pads4Learning is to lower dropout rates and absenteeism due to adverse social attitudes, child marriage, early pregnancy, and the lack of reproductive health information and menstrual hygiene supplies. ACESWorld will provide 700 schoolgirls in rural communities in Ghana with reproductive health education, menstrual hygiene management resources, MHM kits, and engage their community to end practices that limit girls' access to education.
Women and girls are often disproportionately afflicted with some of the harshest effects of poverty and COVID-19 has made their lives more difficult. Providing something as simple as education and resources for menstruation will allow young women to go to school comfortably and continue with their education without being hindered.
Funds Raised Will Cover the Cost of:
a. providing 700 schoolgirls ages 11-19 MHM Kits with which to manage their periods with dignity to improve school attendance and academic achievement.
b. providing reproductive health education so that girls can make informed reproductive health decisions that support their continued education
c. building community support to reject menstrual stigmas, early marriage, and other practices that keep girls from attending school
d. providing member organizations of ACESWorld Gender Equality Data Collaborative in Ghana with training, MHM Kits, materials, and access to Data4Equality app to conduct and monitor Pads4Learning projects in the communities they serve.
e. manufacturing MHM Kits of reusable pads in Goaso to improve access for women and girls and provide economic opportunities for women and girls.
f. aggregating and analyzing project data and produce and share project reports and other information that increases the global knowledge base related to the project and girls' education using data collected from the project via the Data4Equality app.
How Your Donation Will Make a Difference:
With your help, our hope is that all girls who participate in the project will be able to reach their full potential and not be hindered by social practices, lack of reproductive health knowledge or menstrual hygiene supplies.
Thanks so much for your support in this endeavor, and please make sure to spread the word by sharing!
