WE MAKE A LIFE OF WHAT WE GET, LETS MAKE A LIFE OF WHAT WE GIVE!
A bride dreading at the thought of wearing a 30Kg Lehenga!
A Groom yawning at the thought of shaking hands with 300 unknown faces!
A couple who refuses to cut-copy-paste the eponymous “SHAADITIME” smile on their faces.
So here we are! Instead of having dancing baraatis, we plan on having dancing kids! Kids from orphanages – who will perform in a way which has never been done before in Hyderabad!
Both of us are an integral part of an arts based non-profit organization –Pratidhwani! Every year we create, direct and produce our own version of Broadway-style dance dramas in Seattle, Washington! So we decided to recreate the same magic in our very own country.
What Is The Plan?
To create a self-sustaining model for orphanages to raise money by showcasing their talent!
The plan is simple,
- To produce a dance drama with the orphanage kids.
- Raise money from the ticket sales and sponsorships.
- Use the profit and the money raised for personality development of under-proviledged and orphan kids.
What Do We Stand For?
Performing arts play an important role in a person’s overall development. We rarely find orphanages focusing on these due to various reasons and constraints. The aim of this project is to formulate a channel through which these kids can showcase their talent in such areas as dance, acting, singing – any skill that falls under the umbrella of “Performing arts”- and which introduces them to a land of endless possibilities where imagination is celebrated.
Opening Up New Dimensions
Everyone is different and it is absolutely not necessary for each and every kid to shine bright in academics. This avenue of performing arts opens up a new dimension for the kids. It gives them a better way to spend the summer holidays. It gives them confidence and real life experience which cannot be taught through books. It inculcates a spirit of team work and helps them understand team bonding. It gives them the power to know that now they can earn or raise money for themselves and that donation is not the only way of financial support.
And finally, it will definitely give them a sense of accomplishment, a moment of pride, an instant of unparalleled joy and happiness!!!
We know because we both have been there!
Under-privileged? NO!
