ACROSS THE LINES – A NEW PLAY WITH MUSIC
Hi! I'm Scott! If you know me, you know that I'm passionate about storytelling. And today, more than ever, important stories need to be told. I can put the words on the paper and the notes on the page, but, it takes all of you for those words to come to life.
Along with collaborator Stephen Kummer, I've been working on Across the Lines – a new play with music for several years. The story takes place during the Civil War. A time when our country was deeply and painfully divided. A time not unlike today. Now, it's time to share this true life tale in a production this summer in Nashville, TN on July 20, 21 and 22, 2017!
But, to do it we need your help. We need help to rent the venue, create the world of the show with costumes, scenery, printing, music, and value the actors and designers involved with honorariums. In other words, it takes money. It's takes $1 and $5 and $300 and $20 and thousands. It takes a lot. But with everyone’s help, “a lot” isn't hard to achieve.
So, please make a donation (get a reward – see below) and help make this story come alive. It's more important today than when I started writing it. Tickets on sale soon!

THE PLAY – with music
"Across the Lines – a new play with music" is based on a true story drawn from the memoir and letters of Captain Robert A. Ragan. The piece follows his journey during the Civil War as he not only navigates his way from the South to where his heart lies in the North, but, through the changing allegiances of his family and friends in East Tennessee. The divisions in his life and in the country run deep. Who can he trust? Where can he hide? If anyone does win, what have we all lost in the process?
His letters home come alive as he shares the terror, and at times the humor, of his race to the blue hills of Kentucky. The people he meets and ultimately guides, help paint a picture of a National conflict in a poignant and personal way.
Throughout the piece “The Soloist” comments on the action of the play through an emotional and often playful score by the songwriting team of Scott Seidl and Stephen Kummer.
It’s a story that spans a lifetime that can often pass in the blink of an eye. R.A. Ragan must cross the lines from South to North, from friend to foe and from life to death.
