Action Trackchair for Jon

Donation protected

Lester and Nicole have been friends for many years, and both have known the Gallachers in different facets for awhile now. Lester knew Jon from years ago working together in the building industry and Jeni has been Nicole’s hairstylist for five years. We all remember Jon’s terrible accident and watched how that has affected him and their family from a distance. Now that time has passed, and Jon has formed his daily routine, it has become very apparent to him and Jeni how limited he is. Being active was a big part of Jon’s lifestyle and letting that go has been extremely difficult. Thoughts were in the back of Nicole and Lester’s mind wishing they could do something to help. At dinner one night the idea of these amazing offroad wheelchairs came up, companies were Googled, and they found the Action Trackchair, a chair that is fully capable off-road and on. Funding options were discussed, and they decided to take on the task of fundraising to get Jon one of these chairs that would radically change his current lifestyle. This led to now. We want to raise the money to surprise Jon with an Action Trackchair so he can go onto the beach, go on hiking trails, plow the driveway, and just get outside again with some of the mobility that his accident has taken from him. In a perfect world, everyone who had a need for a chair like this would have one. This chair can stand him upright and it has the option for a forklift attachment, and a snowplow. It is exciting to think of all the options John would have with this chair.

Below is a note from Jeni.

Four years later Jon has come so far,he has been experiencing Life in a new way. He made it up to the mountain in a sit ski, he went on a boat for the first time fishing, and also made it to the beach, fishing on a crabbing boat in the ocean. Jon continues to work hard keeping his body as healthy as possible. He works out weekly to strengthen the muscles he has use of. But with all of the great things he has achieved since his accident, Jon is faced with new challenges now that he has his nerve pain and health much more under control since coming home from the hospital. Jon is faced with the long and sometimes lonely days sitting at home. These days are really hard for him to get through. Jon would really love to go back to work. but finding something he can do and enjoy has been a challenge. If you know Jon he was a very active outdoorsman, working in the construction world he was not one to sit in a office with the computer. If he were able to drive a chair like this with the appropriate attachments it could open the doors for him to work in the construction field again. We have also taken family trips to the beach and out to the lakes but Jon was never able to sit out on the beach with us because his chair would not allow him to. Multiple times he would get stuck in a rough terrain trying to enjoy the views with everyone else. If Jon had a chair like this, it would allow him to participate in all the outdoor fun without feeling left out and he would feel that much more normal being able to enjoy time with his friends and family outside of the house.❤️
