Activate has momentum from four successful years of intensive summer drama camps engaging 343 young people, empowering 32 interns, and equipping 135 volunteers with 37 staff. We turn young people into stars!!!
Activate is purchasing a historic building downtown and finalizing architectural plans to transform it into a performing arts education space. This 19,000+ square foot facility will house four studio/rehearsal spaces, flexible performance/event space, costume and scene shops with storage, and dorm style residential housing for young adult staff. It is about people, potential, and place! We actively engage people of all ages in excellent theatre experiences and seek to continue serving as a leader in the performing arts through expanding to year-round programming. As we currently share, borrow, and rent spaces for all of our endeavors, we are limited in the amount of programming we can provide. Each of our camps fills to capacity and we have to waitlist youth. We attract young adults who want to make a difference and adult volunteers who seek to contribute to the next generation. We have the people. We have the potential. We need a performing arts place.
Activate's mission is to provide excellent theatre experiences to students, artists, and audiences that educate, motivate, and illuminate. We help people reach for the stars by providing supportive environments for growing skills in acting, music, dance, and technical theatre.
We are trying to raise enough money for the down payment to jump start our project. Won't you please help us to reach for the stars?
