SUPPORT KAYLA

Hello and happy new year friends. The new year for many represents a renewal of sorts, an opportunity for change and self improvement. Sometimes however life has other plans and some people already know the year ahead is going to be a battle. My friend Kayla Burns who is just 34 years old is one of those people. On October 25th we learned that a spot on Kayla’s lower back is Malignant Melanoma. Throughout the month of November Kayla underwent a series of scans, tests and biopsy’s to determine a corse of action. On November 29th Kayla underwent surgery to remove both the tumor from her back and lymph nodes to which the cancer had spread. The results of the surgery however was bittersweet. While doctors believe they successfully removed the cancerous tissue they discovered Kayla also has thyroid cancer. I have known Kayla, her brother Eric and parents Karen and Mike since 1996 when Kayla was just seven years old. The Burns’ are much more than friends to me, I consider them family. I could spend a lifetime of days trying repay them for all they’ve given me but it wouldn’t be enough time. If you know Kayla and the entire Burns family you know their positivity, happiness and faith will get them through this. I’m asking for your help. I’ve arranged this Go-Fund-Me to raise money to assist Kayla with medical bills and medication but most of all household expenses. Kayla is having surgery again this Friday. (January 5th) Despite the new year the recovery time for this surgery alone is expected to use up the entirety of her 2024 PTO and we’re only getting started. If you can please help me help Kayla and her family I will appreciate it more than can be put into words.
