4 Years at Maynooth University

At 25 years old, I feel like my life is only just beginning.
I was raised by my grandparents. They gave me everything they could possibly give, and because of this as I got older the roles were reversed. I began to care for them. I do not come from a familiy with loads of money, so after high school I attended a tech school and took a few general classes. I was interested in a few of the psychology courses but shortly after I had to drop out due to my grandparents' decline in health. Not long after this I did what so many people look forward to experiencing- I got married. (legally my last name is not switched back to my maiden name yet! I'm working on that too)
What I thought would be a wonderful and happy marriage turned out to be a nightmare. For the next four years of my life I lived with a man who was emotionally abusive and controlling. He slowly cut me off from the rest of the world- even my own family- until I was left alone. I didn't even know who I was. Alll I knew was that I had to do everything within my power to keep him happy, but the sad thing is he never was and he blamed me for it. Leaving him crossed my mind a few times but I was so beat down, so scared, that I didn't see any point in leaving or else he would find a way to drag me back.
One day, when desperation found me on the floor of the kitchen contemplating if life was even worth living, I decided I would sneak away to see a counselor. I had to be extremely careful so that he would never find out. This was the best decision of my life. My counselor gave me a way to start over. She helped me find my own worth and inner strength. It was because of her that I gained the courage to finally leave my situation. I will always be thankful for what she helped me to discover.
And this is what I want to be able to give other people. To make a difference by helping people realize their potential feels like my life purpose. I am going for a BA in Psychology at Maynooth University in Ireland. Long way for this small town girl to travel! Why Ireland? I've always wanted to see Ireland for as long as I can remember. One of my biggest dreams is to be able to live in Ireland, and so when I decided I wanted to go back to school Ireland was among the top countries I was considering. Maynooth is offering what I feel is the best opportunity for me to learn. I cannot wait to start. I cannot wait to be able to give to others what has been given to me.
And this is where I need your help! For a 4 year degree at Maynooth it comes to roughly $133,00.00. This includes rent, bus fare, insurance, school supplies, tuition, and smaller student fees. I am hoping to start the term in January 2016. January will creep up before we know it! I am doing all I can on my end to work towards this goal. I will be eternally grateful for any amount that is donated. Will you please help make my dream come true?
