Bonnie's Home

My name is Debbie and I am fundraising for my elderly friend Bonnie Alexander(72). Bonnie is an old friend who lived in Charleston. Bonnie left Charleston to live with her daughter in Georgia when she got older. Long story short, her son in law "withdrew" money from her account with out permission. She sold her double wide here in Charleston and this was her living money he took from her. It was caught by the bank and reported. No charges were brought against him but the teller was fired. She could not get justice or her money back. He angrily threw Bonnie out of their home to the streets. She lived for a year in a motel until she had only enough money to purchase an old RV. Now, after 3 years, the RV roof is leaking, she cannot shower as her flooring is giving way. She has NO AC, NO HEAT, her bed is broken, and she can only cook on a stove top burner. The wiring in the bus is fragile. We are working to get Bonnie moved back to Charleston where she has friends that can help her. She had to have 2 surgeries this year and I was able to make room for her to recover in my home but not long term, as I do not have the room. She only has Medicare Part B. I do not have the room in my home to house her. We have applied to Charleston Housing Authority for elderly income based housing, because she makes < $900 per month. She cannot afford a regular low rent apartment and we found the wait list for elderly in Charleston is around 2 years. She has been on the list for 1 year. She desires to purchase a refurbished single wide as a permanent home or make enough to supplement her rent until she can secure senior housing. Her doctors are here in Charleston and she needs to move back here. She needs a safe place; a place with AC/HEAT, and the ability to cook, bath, and sleep. We do not have the financial resources to help her. But she is important enough to move her near us so that she has a "family" to help her and continue her healthcare here. Please help in securing funds for a home that we can move her into safely and near help. Bonnie is a Parrothead and member of the Parrothead Club here. She is not able to enjoy our socials and gatherings as much as she would like due to finances. But her Parrothead friends are ready to assist her to get set up in a home. Please consider donating to Bonnie's Home.
