Adam Bane’s medical bills and recovery

Donation protected
Hi I am Ashley Bane Adam’s wife.
Update: Adam is doing better and healing slowly and is waiting on the insurance to approve a skin graft so that his foot can heal enough so that he can return to work. Thanks for everything and checking in on us we couldn’t have made it this far without your support.

As some of you may know, Almost 3 weeks ago Adam got an ingrown toenail on his right foot. We bandaged it and cleaned it but within 4 days he called me complaining of chills and being really sick. If you know Adam he never complains when he is under the weather so I was a little concerned. By the time I got home he was running a temperature of 104 and I asked him to go to the emergency room.

When we were seen in the emergency room they told us his foot had developed a septic infection and that he’d have to be admitted to the hospital. They started him right away on IV antibiotics. The following day he was sent to get an MRI so they could see how bad the infection was and whether it needed to be opened and drained of any infection. They decided it did and so last Wednesday Adam went through surgery to drain and try and save his toe. We were in the hospital 2 more days before they sent us home with plans for him to receive IV infusions over the course of the next 2 weeks to clear up the infection. He went in on Monday evening and received that infusion and had an infectious disease/wound care appointment the next day.

When he went to that appointment he was told that the toe was getting worse and was readmitted to the hospital. Another MRI was ordered and it was determined that his toe was going to have to be removed. So less than 24 hours later he went through a second surgery to remove his big toe on his right foot. As I write this he is still in the hospital coming to grips with this reality. We have a long road ahead of us with at least 3-4 weeks of IV antibiotics at home and wound care and physical therapy appointments to try and get back to normal.

Other than trying to come to grips with the physical part of this situation this couldn’t have happened at a worse time for our family. Adam had literally just accepted a management position with Walmart and hadn’t worked long enough to receive his health benefits. So he sits and worries about things that can’t be controlled as he is unable to do what he loves and get up and go to work everyday. We are praying for a full recovery and hope that his position is still waiting for him when he is able to return to work but things are going to be tough for us in the near future. I am currently working my way through EMT school and should have benefits soon but am also currently without.

Adam has worked hard his whole life and has selflessly tried to help anyone that he can. He has had hundreds of people he worked with whether out towards the Blacksville area or as a manager at Lowes for all those years. The last thing he would want would be a hand out but maybe in this situation if we could just receive a little helping hand to help us through this hard time it would show how much everyone appreciates him and cares for him the way that I do. I love my husband with all my heart and soul and can’t stand to see him suffer and struggle the way he has the last couple weeks. Thank you for anything you can do to help and know that Adam will appreciate it way more than you will ever know. Also those amazing prayers are always welcome. Thanks again.
