Adam Bernard Bassi Memorial Fund

Adam was an ardent crusader for the Earth and its inhabitants.  He cared deeply about the welfare of all living things, and would tirelessly seek to inform his understanding of the natural world, notably including environmental and atmospheric cause and effect.  He challenged himself daily by questioning, researching and discussing critical issues that were of utmost importance to him, and his passion impacted all who were fortunate enough to come within his orbit.  By promoting that quest for understanding in others, he earned the respect and admiration of both peers and instructors alike. 

While his brightness shone through to others, he struggled to find that light within himself.  From an early age, Adam suffered mightily under the weight of mental illness and physiological challenges.  He fought bravely and was a hero to those who not only knew of his suffering under unbearable burdens, but also of his kindness, compassion and sincerity throughout it all.  Because of his courage and perseverance, he gave us the ultimate gift of watching him turn into the remarkable young man that he was.  He gave us time to love without reservation or regret.  Sadly, after years of enduring an endless stream of medical appointments and procedures, medications, hospitalizations, treatments, services, and therapies, Adam chose to end his struggle.    

The Adam B. Bassi Memorial Fund is being established in Adam's honor to recognize and support young adults who face similar struggles.  The beneficiaries of this fund will know they are not alone, and that those who came before them are cheering them on every step of the way.  It is our hope to introduced these recipients to some of Adam's favorite environmental passions so that they may take some comfort in their refuge as well.
