Running the Boston Marathon has always been a lifelong dream of mine. This year I have the opportunity to run the Boston Marathon ‘virtually’, in the great state of Connecticut. This will be my fourth marathon; as I have run the Hartford Marathon twice and the Newport Marathon once before. I plan to start my 26.2 mile route at my house in Bristol, CT, passing by Bristol Health, John Dempsey, St. Francis, CCMC, and ending at the entrance of Hartford Hospital, where I currently work as a Respiratory Therapist. I am dedicating my run to the patients that have lost their lives this past year from Covid-19. As a Respiratory Therapist at Hartford Hospital I have worked side by side with such incredible co-workers; from Doctors, Respiratory Therapist and Nurses, to PCAs and GSA’s that gave their all to help the patients that came into the hospital with Covid-19.
When family and friends were not allowed to come into the hospital to see their loved ones, all of our staff here at Hartford Hospital became their family & friend; gave them a shoulder to cry on; lent them a hand to hold.
For the covid patients that sadly didn't make it; we know we gave our all, WE tried to do everything in our power to create positive outcomes. In honor of those that lost their lives here at Hartford Hospital during the Covid-19 pandemic, I wish to dedicate this Marathon to them and their loved ones.
I plan to donate the money I raise toward a Hartford Hospital Covid-19 Fund, for those that lost their lives during the pandemic here at Hartford Hospital.
Please support me for my run on October 9, 2021.
With gratitude,
