Adam Mohamed Lafdil- Heart Transplant
Donation protected
UPDATE:
Hi all, just a little update to let you know that all our prayers were answered last week as Mohamed received the gift of life.
A suitable heart was found and donated.
For us to receive this gift, sadly a family are grieving a loved one,so for every prayer you say for Mohamed please pray for the grieving family that allowed us this joy.
Mohamed is doing exceptionally well. Machines are being taken away and medicines being reduced hour by hour. He will remain in intensive care for now with the view of moving him to the high dependency ward sometime this week.
Again Mohamed and I would like to thank you all for your messages of support from all over the world. Thank you for all the candles that have been lit, prayers and good wishes that have been sent and for all your generous donations that are helping to keep the family afloat at this difficult time.
As a nation, we tend to be proud and stoic in the face of adversity.
Sometimes though, life throws us a curve ball and genuine people need help.
As friends of this particular special couple, that’s exactly what we are hoping to achieve through this go fund me page.
Niamhmarie Murphy and Adam Mohamed Lafdil are residents of Passage West.
Most people will know Niamhmarie from The Attridge Academy Of Irish Dance, our local Irish Dancing School. A resident of Passage West the last 20 years, she has taught many of our children in our local schools and is always happy to attend, support and entertain at the various concerts and festivals we have in our area. Most recently, her group entertained us at our very successful culture night in Passage West.
Adam Mohamed Lafdil is Niamhmarie's partner. He is extremely well known in Cork in security circles. He’s a familiar face to many that have passed through the security search unit in Cork Airport.
Before that, he kept the streets of Cork safe as he co-ordinated security for many popular bars and nightclubs in the city. He even kept customers safe and flowing through Penneys after the various lock downs post Covid.
In June this year Mohamed suddenly got sick and after spending time in CUH he was transferred to The Mater Hospital in Dublin.
At first he seemed to respond to medication but sadly this is no longer the case.
After a further relapse of Health in CUH in September, he is now back in The Mater Hospital in Dublin where he will remain for the foreseeable future. He is under the vigilant care of a team of cardiologists where they feel the only realistic hope going forward for Mohamed is to undergo a heart transplant.
As a young man with a very young family this was not in the game plan.
Presently, the medication he is on is what’s pumping Mohamed's heart for him.
Niamhmarie travels to Dublin once or twice a week to spend time with Mohamed and to meet the various doctors and consultants that are working with him. Having three beautiful children between them, it’s no easy task getting to Dublin to be beside Mohamed during this stressful time.
Both Mohamed and Niamhmarie are so truly grateful for the outpouring of support shown by their local community during this turbulent time.
The heart transplant will be the beginning of a very long road to recovery, as for now, Mohamed must wait in Dublin until a suitable heart becomes available. Nobody knows how long this will be and then a further year of recovery is expected, presuming there will be no complications after transplant.
As concerned friends of this lovely family, we are seeking your help financially to make this extremely difficult path less stressful.
We would like to ensure that Niamhmarie gets to spend as much precious time as possible with Mohamed in the knowledge that all the numerous extra costs that will be incurred on this journey are covered.
Both Mohamed and Niamhmarie have given so much of themselves to other people down throughout the years, it would be lovely for us all to show our love and support to them during this life changing period in their lives. Thanking you in advance.
