Adam Leyenaar Memorial Fund

A good man and a great friend...taken too soon.  Thank you for helping Adam's family.  Please share this story. Every contribution means a lot.

Adam Leyenaar suffered a tragic event in a fall, just before Christmas, that took his life.  Adam's family and the many many people whose lives he touched - his friends, relatives, teachers, church and volunteer communities - are deeply mourning and in shock and still trying to absorb that they must say good-bye to the beautiful energy of this young man.  Adam was a big and open-hearted son, friend, and student known for his sweet and loving nature, hilarious style and generousity toward others.

We are asking for donations to help Adam's family cover expenses.  They are expecting medical and emergency expenses from his accident to start coming in soon, and his mother (Sandra) and younger brother will need help as they have little funds and they also can no longer stay where they currently live.  They will need help to start over.  It is their wish to do something to continue the memory of Adam.  Any extra funds will go to help ensure Adam's brother has  education funds for college.

Upon hearing of his death, his friends painted the rock in front of his former school with the words "A good man, a great friend."  The school also set up a remembrance page "Parker Charter Remembers Adam Leyenaar" at facebook.com/RIPadamleyenaar.

Adam had a passion to grow, be educated, and live his life with love and adventure.  However, he also suffered from a serious immume deficiency that made him dependent upon infusions to be healthy.  Tragically, he also had developed a second illness causing scarring in his lungs, now giving him two serious illnesses.  Nothing got him down however, and he always tried to overcome his obstacles.

When Adam started middle school, he dyed his hair blue to stand out from the crowd and make friends.  However, Adam did not need blue hair.  He was a natural standout and over the years, he continued to stand out more and more in whatever community he was part of.  He stood out for his engaging personality, his pure and forever open heart, his goofy funny ways, his ability to show empathy and make others feel special, his much demonstrated love for his family, and his ability to bring anyone who was around him, into his eagerness to find the joy, drama or whatever emotion in every one of life's situations.  He also shared his mistakes, dreams and hopes openly.  Adam brought just about everyone he met, into his personal experience of "life" with open arms.  For these qualities, he had many friends who treasured his company.

Adam was very caring.  He was always there to offer himself, when a friend or stranger needed his help. He never took anyone in his life for granted.  This included many volunteer efforts with his church.

He was a lot of fun.  There was always a good laugh together.  Adam and his brother and father were the funniest comedy trio.  He loved to tease his mother.  He will be so missed.

Thank you for your donation and kindness to help Adam's family recover from their tragic loss.
