Adam's Battle with Brain Cancer
Donation protected
My partner Adam, a 30-year-old healthy man, had a seizure alone in our apartment on April 28th, 2023. We were fortunate enough that the seizure didn't render him unconscious, and he could dial 911 to get an ambulance ride to our local ER. Throughout the course of his initial 6-day inpatient stay, including a transfer from his room in the ICU at Ascension Genesys to the University of Michigan Hospital, our doctors discovered what we now know were two hyper-fused masses that are grade 3 astrocytoma gliomas on the left lobe of his brain. After a month of pre-op appointments and a preventive procedure, Adam had an awake craniotomy brain surgery on May 25th, 2023. He has been healing wonderfully, but unfortunately, his surgeon was not able to remove all of the tumor from his brain. His biopsy results are continuing to come in post-operation, but what we know right now is that this is a treatable, but not curable, form of aggressive brain cancer. He now is going on to begin 6 weeks of radiation for the parts of the tumor that were not removed during surgery, and that will then be followed by at least 6 months of chemotherapy.
If you have ever met Adam, I'm sure you know about the strong and illuminating presence that shines through whenever he walks into a room. He is an incredibly dedicated employee, partner, brother, son, and friend. While looking forward to getting back to work, he first needs to heal and find his footing while getting radiation and chemotherapy for his brain cancer. We've decided to share this gofundme to support Adam through his medical debts and navigating this new chapter in his life. We are so incredibly fortunate for all of the support our friends and family have extended to us, and we are grateful for the opportunity to share Adams's story of healing while we continue to seek financial support. Anything and everything helps, we are deeply appreciative of what we have already received and of what others continue to share with us during Adam's treatments.
