Adam's Rehabilitation to Home

Adam is a 20 Year old, living in Tipperary Ireland and

on the 15th July 2023 Adam was in a high-velocity multi-vehicle road accident (Passenger).

Adam sustained a traumatic brain injury, Multiple fractures including left upper limb, right clavicle, pelvis and face as well as hepatic laceration and lung collapse. After the initial resuscitation and intubation, he was urgently transferred to Cork University Hospital for neurological input.

Adam required a tracheostomy and a Gastric tube (PEG) for feeding. Since Adam's transfer back to University Hospital Limerick 25/08/2023 he has shown improvement in his condition, Adam opened his eyes for the first time since the accident and has kept them open for most of the days since. Then for the first time in 6 months, Adam told his mum that he 'Loves Her' as Adam spoke for the first time on Christmas day.

Adam has been accepted by the national rehabilitation hospital in Dublin and his transfer is now pending.

The journey to and from the rehabilitation hospital is a 6 hour round trip, Adam's mum Sophia want's to be with Adam during this time and support his recovery and rehabilitation. Adam is suffering from PTSD and Amnesia and requires continual reassurance from his mum.

Adam's Mum has not been able to work during this time and financially can't sustain the journey to and from the rehabilitation unit, alongside this they need the house to be adapted prior to Adams return.

Adam's recovery journey is really just starting and Sophia needs to be by his side every step of the way, where any donations will allow her to both be there for him and complete the adaptations to their home, so he can finally return to their family home.
