Adaptive tricycle Hanson Park elementary school
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Elaine Rodriguez and I am a physical therapist at Hanson Park elementary school located in Chicago, IL. Hanson Park elementary school serves many students with varying levels of physical and intellectual abilities. This one adaptive bike would benefit so many students and significantly increase their physical activity levels, confidence, and be a fun therapeutic option for the students to use during gross motor time. Many students have never experienced riding a bike because of their physical limitations and this would be an amazing opportunity for them.
I am looking to raise funds to purchase the Rifton small adaptive tricycle with the following:
- trunk support system
- winged headrest
- abductor support
- rear steering bar to allow an adult to guide
- helmet
- Totalling: $2, 560.00 (from especialneeds.com)
Many of these additional supports increase the cost of the tricycle to ensure adequate sitting support and safety.
Please consider donating to purchase this adaptive tricycle. Any amount is highly appreciated!! We need the funds as soon as possible as students have returned to in-person instruction. Our school, students, and families would be so appreciative and grateful to have a tricycle like this. Many of our families are first-generation and low income making it difficult to purchase one for their child out of pocket.
