Help us pay for our cat's medical bills
Donation protected
Hi, I'm Andres and I'm asking for your help to pay for my cat's mounting medical bills.
Julia is the closest thing to a female version of Garfield you'll ever see. She's a chubby, opinionated orange cat who loves to sit on my lap and purr until she's had enough.
About a week ago she stopped eating altogether. We took her to the vet and she was diagnosed with a delicate condition affecting her liver (her bile ducts to be precise) and it was found that she also had pancreatitis. We were advised to take her to a clinic.
The doctors say she could still recover if given enough time. However, vet bills in Germany can pile up very quickly. As of yesterday we are up to €3,500 and we paid another thousand a few days ago.
With all my savings currently tied up in a new business, this comes at the worst possible time. I need your help to make sure she has a fighting chance as I do NOT believe in putting animals to sleep just because you cannot afford their treatment. I'm selling some furniture and other things and have some help from my family, but it may not be enough.
If the doctor tells me that she is in pain, suffering or that her condition cannot be cured, I will have to make a very hard decision. Until then, I hope I can pay the bills while she recovers.
Will you help me give her a fighting chance?
If you've read this far and want to know more about her, here's her story:
She came to us on a stormy night in Colombia in 2016. We were having dinner and suddenly there she was, looking in through the window and meowing for help. She had been attacked (by dogs or other cats, we never knew). The vet said at the time that if she hadn't found us, she might have had a week to live. She was anaemic, malnourished and had several serious wounds.
She eventually made a full recovery and I am proud to say that we have given her the best life possible so far. She lived in Colombia for her first three years, then moved with us to Germany and enjoyed the countryside for another five years, free to roam as much as her lazy and comfortable personality would allow. She always had a family of humans and other pets to call her own.
In 2023 we even went on a long road trip to Portugal and Spain and she loved every minute of it. Even the time in the car, cuddling with my other cat or our big black dog, Noche.
I feel I have fulfilled my responsibility to care for and protect her. I'm hoping that God will give us a little more time together.
Thank you for reading and helping in any way you can. I know times are tough and if you can't donate or contribute, I understand. But even if you can't help with money, please share this so others can.
Every single penny helps.
Thank you very much.
Andres.
