Addie's Breast Cancer Journey

For many years Addie has given to our Canyon community. She has worked tirelessly to not only provide each and every person she guided into the Grand Canyon with the best experience possible, but has been by the side of OARS/Grand Canyon Dories in Flagstaff, AZ for well over a decade. A thoughtful and loving person, she has listened and quietly cared for all of those who crossed her path. 

--->>>In November 2019, Addie noticed something wasn't right. After spending countless hours, days, and weeks struggling with the Veteran's Affairs Administration to get seen by a provider, she finally got an appointment. Just over the past few weeks, our friend, family member, and colleague was diagnosed with the most aggressive form of Breast Cancer. 

It came a shock to those who know and love her. We immediately felt the need to do everything we can to help Addie out.

Here's the thing, Addie isn't getting this treatment paid completely by the VA. Because she is not a Disabled Veteran, she only gets part of the care paid for. With the co-pays, travel, and bills, she will be deep in debt upwards of $50k to $150k depending on how long and if the Cancer is stubborn. She needs our help now and as soon as possible. She relies on guiding through the Spring, Summer, and Fall season to pay the bills. OARS has kindly offered light duty office work while she is receiving high doses of Chemotherapy and Radiation, but it will barely keep the lights on.

Why donate?? Addie has a chance. Cancer is trying to take that chance away. If you know her, oh boy, is she a fighter.
