Addy Matos Medical Expenses
Donation protected
On Wednesday afternoon, a crash on 11/15 involving an SUV and a tractor trailer occurred. As reported two people were ejected from the vehicle and three people were life lined to Hershey hospital. The child that was ejected from the vehicle was Addy Matos. She is 4 years old with her birthday approaching on the 16th. She suffered multiple injuries from the crash which includes skull fractures, broken ribs, collapsed lung, and a hematoma on her spinal cord. When she first got to the hospital, she was unable to move her legs and underwent an extensive back surgery to remove the hematoma and to place rods and screws in her spine. To date, she has been able to move her feet and wiggle her tiny toes once again. She has been on a ventilator since the accident to ensure that her collapsed lung is strong enough before they remove her off of it. She had very minimal brain swelling and has recognized the family members that have been able to enter the room. Her dad has not left her side the entire time and has been ensuring that she feels safe and comfortable. She has a long road ahead of her and the neurologist has stated that she will have to undergo a lot of physical therapy. Given all that she has went through she still will give you a thumbs up when anyone mentions how much toys she’s going to be getting for her birthday this year. The family is beyond grateful to all of the first responders and any bystanders that were on the scene and helped take care of their little girl. Through this we wanted to get her story out there as we were sure many people wanted to know if she was okay. Thank you to anyone who chooses to donate as this is the beginning of a long journey.
