Adelaide Flying- Fox Support Fund
Due to droughts interstate Adelaide has seen a increase at our
flying-fox colony in Botanic Park was estimated at 30,000 bats.
Due to 2 severe heat stress events already this summer, we have around
400 baby flying foxes to care for.
Our volunteers can not afford to sustain the costs and we need your help.
We lost around 10,000 babies from our colony in November and December. . We now
have in care the last of this generation’s babies that survived the heat.
We have now so far built a crèche aviary with money donated via this Go fund Me
campaign , there are many more costs associated with caring for these bats, high
water bills, high electricity costs running multiple fridges to keep the fruit cool and
fresh, recycling costs of fruit boxes and fruit waste.
Our bat rescue phone died and we have purchased a new one from these donations.
Our aim now is to build a release aviary. We need more funding for this purpose.
We need to buy more and more feeders as they grow and eat more.
The total shown raised on this campaign is $2000 less than is shown. Someone
accidently donated $2000 instead of $20 and we of course refunded the money.
Our Grey Headed Flying-Foxes are a keystone species and now listed
as a Vulnerable Species.
Please help if you can or please share this campaign.
