ADHD solutions was set up by Christine Jarvis our founder in 2006 and has supported over 7000 families, individuals and professionals affected by ADHD across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
In the last few years we have managed to self fund much of the support for families by selling training and support packages to schools and a host of other professionals to help them to support children they work with. The Corona Virus has halved our income overnight!
In these unprecedented times, families affected by ADHD are some of the most vulnerable in our society.
Parents are often under extreme pressure and find managing their child/self/partner with ADHD extremely stressful under normal conditions. Being restricted to the home with a child who is hyperactive, impulsive and often extremely challenging can be unbearably hard and this is exacerbated if a parent also has the condition.
The pressure COVID 19 is putting on our families means that they are at much higher risk of family breakdown, domestic violence, and social and emotional difficulties including self-harm and suicidal ideation, than other families and often experience poorer mental health, greater parenting related stress, lower parenting self-esteem and both parents and children are at greater risk of depression and anxiety caused by the 'pressure cooker' of living with ADHD in lock-down.
It would be easy to accept the generous government offer to furlough staff and sit in the sunshine but that is NOT what ADHD Solutions are about.
Our dedicated staff team are working harder than ever to support families. developing new ways of working virtually, to give much needed 1-1 support for both parents and children, and deliver workshops, parenting courses and support groups via webinars and virtual calls.
At the same time supporting other professionals who are contacting us for advice managing an increase in calls of 193% - from teachers to social care workers, GP's to CAMHS.
Please can you help us to keep afloat and enable our amazing staff team to continue to support our wonderful families old and new by helping us to raise £50,000 to contribute towards the cost of salaries over the next few months.
I would like to give my heartfelt thanks to my amazing staff team, for putting ADHD Solutions before themselves and their families, everyone who has contributed to our video - Rory Bremner, Suzy Young, Anne-Maria Olphert and all of the brilliant families and professionals. and to everyone who has contributed to and/or shared our appeal
