Woodrow Homestead Restoration

Donation protected
Coldwater Canadiana Heritage Museum was established in 1965 by members of the community who wanted to preserve this historical site and promote the region’s rich history.  Fifty-five years later, CCHM is still growing with the help of nearly 50 dedicated volunteers.  Each year, new exhibits are added and more artifacts are accessioned into our growing collection.

At the heart of our museum is the Woodrow Homestead, built in the 1840s, which is one of very few heritage buildings left in Ontario that remains on its original foundation. It has many unique features such as the specially crafted window panes, large fireplace, and the split logs and dovetail corners of the log cabin. Within the Woodrow Homestead, there are many displays of rural life in Ontario during the Victorian Era.

Today, the building is beginning to sink on one side.  If left unchecked, this continued deterioration will force the building to ultimately be dismantled.  Our volunteers desperately want to save this incredible piece of history.  To do so, we need to build a new foundation.

This project is essential for the survival of our volunteer-run museum.

Your donation would allow the restoration of a heritage site which is dedicated to the preservation of Coldwater and the region’s history.
