Necessity bags for foster children

We are part of a non-profit organization called Destination Imagination and we have chosen to tackle project outreach which consists of for-filling a need in our community. As high school students we are highly motivated and are looking forward to making a difference. We have chosen to start our own organization entitled "Project Empowerment", which consists of making grab bags for foster children; as in many cases they are taken from their home with nothing. Our project would allow the foster kids to feel empowered, important and seen; as they most likely have never had anything new of their own.

Our bags would consist of travel water bottles (reusable and plastic) , a snack, clothing store gift card, travel shampoo, travel conditioner, travel liquid body soap, deodorant, stress ball, toothbrush, toothpaste, hair ties, travel size individually wrapped women's sanitary items, hairbrush, socks, writing journal, a blanket and anything else that you would be willing to donate or think would enhance our project.

We have decided to take on helping foster children, because it has become a known issue within our community and we wish to partake in finding a solution. Often times children are removed from their homes frantically, leaving only enough time to grab little to no personal belongings. The items that they do obtain are often simply thrown into a trash bag to be transported. Your whole life should not be tossed in a black garbage bag. The goal of our mission is to help restore dignity, hope, and empowerment in kids who are often unseen and unheard. We are doing our best to advocate for these teens, and we invite you to join us in this effort! Adopt a bag! Thank you for your time and consideration.
