Adopting a Tree in Central Park for Jordan

Donation protected
The one-year anniversary of our friend, Jordan Spilman’s death is upon us. This is an unbelievably difficult time for Cat and Penny, and a few close friends and I feel compelled to do something to honor his memory as best we can.

When he was sick and had just moved back to the city with Cat and beautiful little Penny, Jordan often talked about how much he loved his family’s little corner of the world. From their lovely UWS apartment, Jordan spoke about how much he enjoyed taking strolls through central park to and from his many appointments. That always stuck with me. Jordan's ability to find joy and see the beautiful things in life even when up against some of its biggest challenges. Losing a loved one is extremely difficult, but losing someone like Jordan is unimaginable.

Because Cat is no longer in New York, we’d love to give her a feeling of permanence here in this great city where she and Jordan met, fell in love and enjoyed many walks in the park. We want to give her a place to visit when she and Penny are in New York and for us all to have a place to share memories of our dear friend Jordan.

This is where you all come in: a few close friends of Cat & Jordan are looking to Endow a tree in Central Park to honor Jordan’s memory.

Information here and below:
  • The cost to adopt an existing tree in Central Park is $5,000
  • Donations of $5,000 and above are acknowledged with the selection of an existing mature tree in the Park as guided by our expert staff and a granite paving stone at the southern end of Literary Walk, mid-Park at 66th Street.
  • The Tree Trust of the Central Park Conservancy offers the unique opportunity to support the care of Central Park's 18,000 trees.
  • All contributions to the Tree Trust are placed in an endowment fund to care for existing trees, and to fund the planting of new trees.

Please consider donating what you can, so we can Jordan can continue taking strolls through Central Park with us for years to come.
