Adoption Fund for the Boxers

It has always been our dream to adopt a child.  Once we were married, we realized it was very expensive, so we tried to conceive the old fashioned way.  Well, that didn’t work out too great.  Cindy went through multiple fertility treatments with no luck.  So, we tried to adopt a child through the foster system and child protective services.  After going through a year of training, classes, required home renovations, and a home study, we were rejected by our foster agency at the last minute.  They said they no longer wanted to work with families that only wanted babies.  It was truly devastating.  

Thanks to Joe’s wonderful Apple insurance, we were able to do a cycle of IVF.  Injections, blood tests, doctor visits, hormones…..led to a pregnancy!!  We were over the moon!!!  Two weeks later, it all came crashing down with a miscarriage.  The most painful, devastating and emotionally damaging experience of our lives.  And we have reached the Lifetime Maximum that our insurance will pay out for infertility coverage, so that was our only shot at that. 

We have decided to return to what we wanted to do to begin with….adopt a child.  But it’s expensive.  So we need some help, before we try to stuff yet another pet into that baby-sized hole in our hearts.  

We decided to go with a private agency because we literally cannot endure another heartbreak.  The adoption agency fee is $20,000, which is very standard.  The legal fees for an adoption are about $5,000.  The costs to care for the birth mother can vary up to about $10,000.  We are going to use an agency in San Antonio that we feel really great about.

This will be life changing for us.  It’s a long journey, it’s not been easy and it will continue to be a challenge.  We have a lot of love to give and we cannot wait to be able to guide and parent another beautiful human through this crazy life.  Your donation means the world to us and we thank you.
