Out to Pasture Sanctuary is not only a safe haven for over 100 animals rescued from neglect and slaughter, we also facilitate adoptions of nearly 100 animals a year, often animals are days away from being slaughtered and we rush in & find a way to get them to safe homes where they'll never be eaten or abused!
The cost of rehoming gets high - this year alone we've spent $12,000 to rehome animals & save them from slaughter! Out to Pasture often covers the cost of transportation, vet care, sterilizations, long-term treatments, vaccinations, fencing, and more.
Plus the hundreds of volunteer hours Kit spends promoting, networking, and doing whatever it takes to find safe homes!
Will you give us a hand? And right now, all your donations are matched, for every $1 you donate, OTP gets $2!
We need to continue rehoming & ensuring animals aren't sent to the slaughterhouse - but it's a costly expense on top of our regular sanctuary animal care.
Your support big or small will help these animals tremendously! Because even if we aren’t able to take them in ourselves, we won’t turn our backs on them!
Here are a few of the animals Out to Pasture supported rehoming:
- Oreo (pictured above) was supposed to be BBQed in 2 days, his "owner" no longer wanted him & was giving him away to a man for BBQ. But a kind woman found out & called OTP. She got to Oreo just minutes before the other guy, the guy tried to block her truck (with Oreo) from leaving. She hit the gas pedal & took off, then drove several hours all night to reach OTP. We covered the cost of neutering & other vet bills and helped find a home for Oreo, who now lives on 20 acres with 4 pig friends.
- Goats were abandoned at a foreclosure where a dairy goat operation had shut down because of covid. The county was planning to give them away for slaughter. But OTP stepped in, we found goats in a dark shed and had to take the shed apart to get them out!
- 36 farmed animals—horses, pigs, goats, and a llama— were stranded without care or food after their caregiver passed away. Kit and John & other rescuers traveled to the property to feed and care for the animals for 10 weeks while they worked to place each of them at sanctuaries or in vegan homes.
- A couple sold their rural property because of the fire danger. And they left the cows, pigs, goats, and chickens on the property, and when OTP found out, there was only 13 days left to rehome them or they would be slaughtered! We found a vegan home with pastures for the cows, but nothing was fenced. We spent two days with volunteers pulling up donated fence posts, gates, and cattle panels from another property, and with only two days to go, we spent an entire day loading up the pigs and cows. All the animals were removed from the property and now have new vegan homes!
- An adorable pig abandoned at a homeless camp in Portland.
- Numerous animals abandoned on properties when folks move & threats of sending to slaughter or euthanasia.
- "Urban farming" gone wrong, many backyard chickens who otherwise would end up on a dinner plate.
- And so many more......
