National Youth Leadership Forum: Medicine

My name is Keaira Bryson and I am a junior at Swain County High School. I have been nominated to represent myself at the National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine (NYLF) in Atlanta, GA this upcoming summer. By attending NYLF, I will join other motivated students from around the country for an experiential nursing and medicine program.
As you can see, this will be a powerful experience, enabling me to interact with respected professionals in various fields while building relationships with students who will be my future colleagues. Attending this program will enable me to further my interest in the field of medicine and reach my career goals of becoming a nurse. I maintain a 3.6053 GPA, I am involved in HOSA, FCCLA, New Century Scholars, Interact club, National honor society and was recently awarded December and January leader of the month. Imagine if you had been given this opportunity for a life-changing experience when you were in school and were unable to participate due to lack of funds.
My participation in the program depends on whether I can raise $3,000 in sponsorships. The program tuition is $3,495 - $3,595. I am investing every dollar I can of my own money to make sure I don’t miss out on this unique experience. I already know so much about medicine and becoming a nurse due to me helping my mom the last five years. I just wanna make my mom proud and continue reaching my goals and dreams of becoming a nurse because I know that’s is what she would have wanted.
