In Memoriam Adri Fair

On March 31, 2023, Adri Fair was called home, with Matt and their children — Patrick (27), Damon (25), Campbell (22), Kira (19), Hannah (16), and Griffin (14) — by her side.

Originally established to help Adri to the US for treatment not available to Stage IV patients in Canada, this GoFundMe is now an in-memoriam, with funds split between cancer research and Adri and Matt’s children’s education.

For her more than two years of cancer treatment, Adri was active in the #stage4needsmore community, striking relationships and challenging her own health care community to do more for, and better by, people with Stage IV cancer. Canada’s comparatively small population means innovations developed elsewhere are slower to reach us, which is why Adri had planned for treatment at Los Angeles’ City of Hope. Adri’s aim, beyond her own treatment, will carry on with funds from this page directed to research to make it possible for Canadian Stage IV patients to be treated at home.

For two years prior to her diagnosis with gastric cancer, Adri was misdiagnosed with myriad issues and unable to work. Her children’s well-being and future were paramount to Adri — she was their champion supporter in sports stands and in quiet moments alike. Funds from this page will help to carry on Adri’s aim to enable their educational success.

On behalf of her beloved family, thank you for your support of Adri’s intended treatment, and of her passions for improving Stage IV cancer treatment in Canada and for her children’s future. Adri was such a bright light for everyone who knew her — as wife and mother, daughter and sister, beloved friend, fierce champion and advocate. The greatest honour we can give Adri is to shine our own lights a little more brightly, to each make the world a little bit better.
