On Saturday April 15 at 7:40pm Tragedy Struck My My Family.
My Beloved Cousin, Adrian Rivas was shot In the neck in the safety of His own Home. The bullet entered the upper right side of his neck Which ruptured a artery upon impact. The bullet then ricocheted off a neck bone causing some Fractures. The bullet then exited out the left side of his Body Where it Ricocheted 3 more times about the house.
After Hours of uncertainty we were given the a update on his condition. He Survived And was in critical condition. The quick actions that his Sister Lizette took, Saved his life. He wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for Her. She’s a True Hero!!!
The Prognosis was Grim! He had suffered a Minor Stroke...He underwent Emergency Surgery where Doctors had to remove a vein from his leg to repair the ruptured artery. He has little to no mobility on the right side of his body. There is a possibility of some brain damage due to the lack of blood flow and oxygen to his brain. It still isn’t known if he will require any neck surgery.
He has a very long road in front of Him.
He will need at least 18 months of Intense Physical Therapy. Doctor says that Adrian can be 75% recovered by Fall 2020.
There is a Light at the end of the Tunnel!
Getting through the next 18 month is going to be very hard. Physically and Financially. Adrian has a Beautiful 3 year old Son with With his long time Girl Friend. Although small They are a Family who are Very Much Loved By all who surround them. Due to the severity of Adrian’s injuries he won’t be able to return to work for a very long time. The financial burden they are facing is a big one.
I’m asking for help to ease that financial burden and Keep a roof over their heads and food on the table. Anything will help to get them by.
What happened was a tremendous shock to Us all. It has affected my Family a Great deal.
We Continue to Pray for his recovery and family and I Ask God to Give Them Strength to get through.
