Adrian & Sue Bussoli

Adrian Bussoli, our dad and grandfather, has come down with severe COVID UK variant. As of April 15th, Adrian was admitted to the hospital with an oxygen level of 56, a few hours later he was brought to the ICU and placed in a medically induced  coma. We are hoping he recovers and can come home to Sue in a couple weeks. The recovery period for COVID is likely to be a few months with Sue at home to help with rehabilitation.  

The loss of income for Adrian and Sue is unknown but significant to these hardworking small business owners. 

We are fundraising for our parents to help relief the financial burdens they face through this extremely stressful period. The funds will go towards necessities and any additional medical requirements.

About Adrian Bussoli: He was born in Italy and immigrated to Canada with his parents at 14 months and settled in Calgary. A University of Alberta graduate of Political Science, he married native Calgarian & artist Sue Van Dyck, and grew their family to 5 in Calgary. Both were devoted sports parents, who always supported our activities and tournaments. In fact they would drive to Vernon, almost every weekend for a couple of years to catch and support Michael's Vernon Viper's games.

Since his teens, Adrian, has been a long time fixture at the YMCA in Calgary and he was a long-time member of the Eau Claire YMCA. He played handball for many years, and has loved teaching Handball to youth. In 2015, Adrian helped bring the World Handball Championship to Calgary with the Alberta Handball Association. 

Through the years, volunteering in the community has been a top priority for Adrian and Sue. Adrian, as president of the Italian Club, organized the Ferrari raffles that facilitated the club becoming mortgage free. Sue is a YMCA volunteer, has taught literacy at the Buchanan School for several years, taught art via the Art la Carte program of "Studio 58" at the Foothills hospital Neurology unit 58 and coached ringette. Adrian was also a long time Calgary North Rotary Club member and created many amazing friendships that still endure today.

Adrian has been the owner of Alberta Garment Manufacturing for the last few decades in Calgary, a small business which provided workwear and PPE for oil and gas. More recently, they had pivoted adding production of masks and gowns for the health industry, as the COVID-19 pandemic unfolded. Adrian has poured himself and his all of his resources into work, even through the toughest economic years. Even in the apparel industry he found time to volunteer, as the president of the Apparel Human Resource Council of Canada and the Alberta Sewn Products Association. He has always been passionate about the health of the apparel manufacturing industry in Canada and is a big believer in domestic manufacturing, in the face of the competitive price pressures from overseas manufacturing. 

Alongside the volunteering and work life, family and friends are the central lifeblood for Adrian and Sue's. They are always making time for others above themselves, and are true role models when there is a call to action. In addition to helping people, they love to travel, and become local tour guides, and spend time at Christina Lake with family.
